Hatake Kakashi – The Copy Ninga

Hatake Kakashi is one of the main characters in the Naruto series and is a highly(probably the most) skilled jounin in the Hidden Leaf Village respected by all others(Guy Sensai too !!). His father was also holding similar reputation and was bestowed with the title White Fang of the Leaf ! During a mission his father sacrificed its success for protecting the other team members’ lives. This resulted in heavy criticism by the villagers and the reputation of the White Fang was defaced. His father left the village soon and not much is known about him since then. This incident transformed Kakashi’s attitude and he started to consider the mission more important than his comrades. This changed during a mission with his team headed by Minito(The Fourth Hokage) where one of his comrades from the Uchiha clan sacrificed himself to save him. The dying Obito Uchiha gifted Kakashi with the Sharingan. Since then Kakashi rose to new heights in skills and mastered(rather copied ;)) more that 1000 ninjutsu earning himself the title of The Copy Ninja.

He is a former ANBU team leader(one of the youngest). His basic element is Lightening and he is the sensai for team 7 consisting of Naruto Uzumaki(our Hero!), Sasuke Uchiha and Haruno Sakura. His most powerful technique is the Lightening Blade. He also succeeded elevating his eye techniques by attaining the Mangekyo Sharingan. He commands the Ninja Dogs using Summoning Techniques adding to his tracking abilities. He is best known for speed, coolness quotient and his yet to be disclosed face. He also loves reading the Make-Out series written by Jiraiya. He is by far the coolest character(close competitor to Itachi) and its thrilling to see him fight !

One of the most comic and interesting characters of the series is Jiraiya. He first appeared in the first series and played a major role in the Shippuden one. He is one of the Three Legendary Sannin of the Hidden Leaf Village teamed with Orochimaru(the bastard) and Tsunade(the Fifth Hokage) who trained under the Third Hokage, Sarutobai. He mastered the Sage mode in an effort to become stronger to impress Tsunade on whom he had a crush. He is capable of summoning toads using the Summoning Jutsu.

He is very similar to Naruto and plays a GodFather for him. He was also the master of the Fourth Hokage, Minito, who was Naruto’s father. He trained Naruto and taught him techniques like the Rasengan. He also did some espionage for the Leaf village concerning the Akatsuki. He later discovers that Akatsuki is led by his former students Nagato and konan(Madara comes later), who kill him as Jiraiya discovered the secret of the six Pains. Pain is how Nagato refers to himself after the events like death of his parents and his dear friend Yahiko.

Jiraiya’s death surely came as a surprise and I am sure every other viewer feels the same. We would have loved to see more of the Ero-Sennin !!

Naruto Uzumaki

This is the main character of the series Naruto. He is a very ambitious boy with a huge amount of will power. The biggest motive in his life is to become the Hokage(chief) of his village Konoha(Hidden Leaf Village).

His hopes and dreams are high but he performs miserably in his Ninja Academy exams and barely passes to go to the next level.

Uzumaki Naruto enters!!

Naruto is an ongoing Japanese cartoon series written and illustrated by Masashi Kishimoto. The plot tells the story of Naruto Uzumaki, an adolescent ninja who constantly searches for recognition and aspires to become a Hokage, the ninja in his village that is acknowledged as the leader and the strongest of all.

The anime series was produced by Studio Pierrot and Aniplex. It premiered across Japan on the terrestrial TV Tokyo network and the anime satellite television network Animax on October 3, 2002. The first series lasted 220 episodes, while Naruto: Shippuden, a sequel to the original series, has been airing since February 15, 2007. In addition to the anime series, Studio Pierrot has developed six movies for the series and several original video animations (OVAs). Other types of merchandise include light novels, video games and trading cards developed by several companies.

Viz Media(the one which brought DBZ 🙂 ) has licensed the manga and anime for North American production. The anime series began airing in the United States and Canada in 2005, and later in the United Kingdom and Australia in 2006 and 2007, respectively. The films, as well as most OVAs from the series, have also been released by Viz, with the first film premiering in cinemas. The first DVD volume of Naruto: Shippuden was released by Viz in North America on September 29, 2009, and it started broadcast on Disney XD in October of the same year.

As of volume 44, the manga has sold over 89 million copies in Japan. Serialized in Viz’s Shonen Jump magazine, Naruto has become one of the company’s best-selling manga series. The English adaptation of the series has also appeared in the USA Today Booklist several times and volume 11 won the Quil Award in 2006. Reviewers from the series have praised the balance between fighting and comedy scenes, as well as the characters’ personalities, but have criticized it for using standard shōnen plot elements.

In TV Asahi’s latest top 100 Anime Ranking from October 2006, Naruto ranked 17th on the listNaruto Shippuden has ranked several times as one of most watched series in Japan
